Kurtis The Barbarian
A sketch I drew of someone I work with. It has a few exagerations, but a successful likeness I think.

Meet The Twins
Here is a sketch I did a few weeks ago. The sketches always seem to lose something when they are scanned in. Maybe its the scanner, maybe I dont know what I am doing, anyway here are the twins.

Mermaid
I did this for a contest recently. I didn't win but then the idea wasn't very original. Till next time.

Couple Sketches
Here are a couple sketches I did while working through the "Snowy Day" script. Editing is such a pain, but I would rather work through the details of it now, than get half way into it and find out I should have done it a different way. Gotta get back at it, see ya.

Frank The Profiteer
This is Frank. He is not really a mobster but in a galaxy full of thieves, he is sometimes forces to do things he doesn't want to do, for the sake of keeping his business running of coarse. I came up with the concept years ago. I just recently reworked the sketch trying to work out some details.

Frustrated
During periods of frustration I doodle around, drawing for pleasure and experimental purposes. This is one such doodle. I may elaborate on some of the ideas at a later time, but for now I think I will move on to the things that I have to get done. There will be plenty of drawings to vent my frustration on in days to come.

Another Concept Sketch
Another concept sketch. enjoy. I am busy writing the short story I mentioned in a previous post and working on the concept sketches for Benaiah. Unfortunately, there does not seem to be an abundance of archaeological evidence for this particular time period or people group. I should have checked that first. Oh well, the search is on.

Double Sword Lady
This drawing actually started from the pose in "the stump" picture. I just manipulated the figure to stand instead of sit. Her arm is a little stiff. I should have relaxed it a little more.
I didn't finish it because I had already learned what I needed from the drawing. So now, it is on to the next drawing.

Final Hero Design
I decided to simplify the hero for my school assignment. Sketched this out in about five mininutes. His name is masked man. I know, not too creative, but definitely functional for the assignment. Now I have to do the assignment. Gotta go to work.

Mickey The Pirate
I needed a hero for a school assignment, so I came up with this. Maybe I can pass him off as a hero!

Benaiah
I created this character for a short story that should be finished within the next month. I will try to post a preview page this month for a sneak peek at my budding story telling ability. Hope you like it.

Small Concept Sketch
This is a small concept sketch. It is kind of like a detailed doodle. It helps me record an idea so I don't lose it.

Nehemiah Throttlemire
This is a sketch from about a year ago. I hope I have improved a little since then, but some days feel like I know nothing about drawing at all. Like anything else, good days and bad days go with the territory. I actually like the bad days. Those are the days that I see my weakest areas. If I'm struggling with a particular pose, facial espression, or even background detail, it means I don't know how to do it. I will either have to get reference material, find someone who can show me, or give up. Giving up isn't even an option, so I have to find a way to make it happen. By doing so, I begin to understand how to draw the form. I will then repeat the drawing, each one better than the last.
I have have started my first course with Joe Kubert's World of Cartooning. I can already see lots of room for improvement. I will keep bangin away at it until I get it. I once heard someone say, "you go through about ten thousand drawings to get to a master piece." I must be getting closer to that master piece. It feels like I've done ten thousand drawings in the last few months. Until next time.

Half Elf Chick 2
I was playing around with line work here. I started with a rough sketch with a dull tip pencil. Then rolled a kneaded eraser over it to lighten it even more. After that, I sharpened my pencil and drew only the lines. I didn't do any value rendering on purpose. I think it turned out OK. Later.
